We regret to say that Luther Garcia passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015. The legal community has lost one of its finest criminal defense lawyers.

Luther Thomas Garcia, born June 1, 1962 in Chicago, IL to Dr. Heriberto and Beverly Garcia, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015. He attended Lake Forest Academy, graduated from Butler University (1984) and from Indiana University School of Law (1994).
Luther was a well-respected and admired criminal defense attorney in Indiana. He was a private attorney based in Indianapolis and a former lawyer with the public defender’s offices in Vigo and Marion counties. Named a “Top 100″ criminal trial lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers Association, he was voted to the board of the Indiana Public Defender Council. Luther enjoyed sharing his expertise with others through legal education seminars across the State of Indiana.
Luther was known for his intelligence, sharp wit, arched eyebrow, and a penchant for one- liners, at turns both hilarious and wise. He loved championing the underdog, cross-country motorcycles trips, and doting on his children, nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his son Philip, daughter Lucy, grandson Tristan, his mother Beverly, brothers Herb, Eugene, Alex, and Lucy’s mother, Annie Christ-Garcia. He is preceded in death by his father Dr. Heriberto Garcia.
Family services will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery Saturday, July 18, 2015. Calling hours will be from 4-8 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2015 at Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250.
